Good ride, very fun!

Finally, a fun ride on the bumpkin!
I threw on a halter and a lead rope (well 2 lead rope contraction at first but that didn't work). Well jerkface wouldn't stay still so I free lunged the living CRAP out of him until he finally stood still for me (was this submission or exhaustion... the world may never know).
He licked and chewed and did submit so hurray. But he started refusing and pulling around and cutting me around. MOST of it I corrected easily but he was trying to turn around and ignore all aids on me. So I grabbed my crop on the ground but he wouldn't let me get back on.
AROUND again we went. And finally he behaved and we did limited trot work so woohoot.
I know I said I'd start over, but I'm gonna take each day as it comes and work very hard on his ground manners to build trust as I love to ride him and he IS rideable but a lot of stuff needs to be fixed.
We'll play it by ear, but maybe we'll be partners after all.
